The ambition of ARCREATE – to generate a synthesis of creative knowledge in collaboration with local stakeholders – responds to an urgent, ethical call to decolonize archaeological research in Africa. The project’s combination of theoretical and methodological approaches allows it to recover the conceptual and material dimensions of the everyday worlds that were crafted by African technicians.
